I’m in Spain right now and I have an idea, an idea which won’t come to fruition until some point next year, but all the same; What Spanish, French, German, Belgian, Italian and Dutch Gumtree-alikes can you recommend for vehicles? I know of mobile.de, autotrader.it and largus.fr, but I want to hunt for slightly obscure things mainly from private sellers - open to a bit of bartering - across Western Europe. My list of wants will include at least one car, a trailer, for certain a Piaggio Ape, and maybe a scooter.

I like the sound of that idea!
I think autotrader and autoscout24 work in a lot of counties.
For the Netherlands you can use marktplaats.nl to find private sellers for about everything.

I was hoping to pick up an item per country, obviously ending in Italy for the Ape, see some friends over there and then drive home very very slowly.

Like mentioned by BvdV: marktplaats.nl for the Netherlands. gaspedaal.nl works as well.
For Germany, check (besides mobile, ebay.de and autoscout): https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/

Try leparking.fr . It aggregates many ads sites and you can specify your location. Pretty handy!

For Belgium, I would try Kapaza.be.

As the others have already pointed out, mobile.de and autoscout24.de are the leaders in Germany. Last time I sold a car on the, mobile charged a fee whereas autoscout was free. So you will find more private ads on autoscout and more dealer ads on mobile.

Also:
I’m using a Lancia Zeta as an engine donor. The rest of the car will be junked. Maybe you can create a trailer of the carcass?

That’s cool, I know a guy who bought a Fiat 500 and drove it home from Italy. But I figure your car/trailer/Ape etc. combination would be even cooler.
I know a guy selling Sankeys by the way: http://www.hommeles.com/trailers/sanke…
He’s a large military equipment seller near me, though I don’t know if he is cheap, but a lot of his stuff hasn’t moved in years, so you never know.

A good Sankey should be around 800-1000€. I have a NATO hitch, so I wonder whether I could bring the Series Rover and fit an Ape in a Sankey, and pop a scooter in the load bed of the Rover. That sounds like a much better plan!
![]() 09/09/2016 at 07:06 |

I wondered why you bought the Zeta... I’m assuming for the cti? If BvdV’s link pulls through I might bring the Series Rover and shove everything into a Sankey trailer. I wouldn’t fancy towing a Zeta with a freshly bought rusting 300,000 km 504 pickup :)

autoscout sound pretty good then. Are there any classifieds that deal mainly in autos?

Location won’t really matter as I’ll travel for the right vehicle, but now I’m seriously considering bringing a Land Rover and just doing a tour of Western Europe and fitting lots of things inside a Dutch-bought Sankey trailer :)

Yes, the 2.0 Turbo engine will go into the CTi. So the rest is left for me to part out/junk. I do have the four middle and rear row full size alcantara seats left.

So you tried to junk it out to a silly Brit :D
![]() 09/09/2016 at 07:17 |

Right! Besides, it does have an Italian badge. I wasn’t looking for money by the way, so there’s no economical incentive for me posting about this.

Leboncoin.fr is the French gumtree, and you can search by region. Lots of old tat on there.
http://www.ooyyo.com
searches loads of seperate sites in different areas.

Yeh I did notice that, it’s a kind offer and it’s probably a fairly big load bay with no seats or roof!

From Barcelona to France is just a small trip. Try leboncoin.fr.

If you decide to pick one up there, let me know! I might be able to arrange a discount since a former co-worker of me has a relationship with the guy’s son.

For France try leboncoin. They’re france’s Craigslist.

Can you find out a price for a good to excellent example? Preferably UK stock, NATO fixings and lamp housings, convoy light if it hasn’t rusted out! I’ll bring you some nice English beers to say thanks!

I’m on holiday in Spain rather than working/staying over here so I can’t make the trip now, but I would hope to do some sort of purchasing trip and tie it into the Europpo meet (if it goes ahead)
![]() 09/09/2016 at 08:07 |

That sounds like awesome fun! Just know that the link I give you should get ads from all over western Europe, so that might help!
![]() 09/09/2016 at 08:09 |

Might try and tie it into the Europpo meet if the timing is right and I have enough monies. Land Rover will cost me an awful lot of petrol.

Well: enjoy your holiday, hope you’ll get to that purchasing trip!

Autoscout24.de and mobile.de only do cars, trucks, trailers, bikes, scooters and the like.

+ 2dehands.be, autoscout24 and gocar.be

I’ll send them a mail, from the pictures I think they are former UK, since there is a Union Jack sticker on it. How do I look for the Nato fixings(is that the ring shaped tow hitch?) and lamps, and the convoy light?
Thanks, nice beers would be highly appreciated! ;-)
![]() 09/09/2016 at 10:46 |
|
Exactly as that picture shows, screw-off steel bevelled lamp covers, tow ring with a 12 pin NATO connector, and the convoy light is normally under the trailer pointing down so as to light a small section of the roadway underneath it when the other lights are switched off. I would be really interested in price, being Dutch I can safely assume they have excellent English?
![]() 09/09/2016 at 11:20 |
|
Well, generally speaking, Dutch people are quite decently skilled in English, compared to say the French or Germans. And had they be located in a city, that assumption would hold, however they are located in a quite rural area in the south-east of the country, where English skills vary a lot, since a lot of people above 50-ish thought they would never need the language after school, so they just forgot most of it.
On the other hand, their website is in English, so you would expect some English skills.
Shall I mail them for a price, or do you want to try yourself?
![]() 09/09/2016 at 11:27 |
|
If you wouldn’t mind that would be great, especially as I’m away and their website hates my phone, or vice-versa.

I do not give you permission unless this mystical journey still includes the words ‘Piaggio Ape’. :P
![]() 09/09/2016 at 12:56 |
|
The Ape is the main reason for going! I’ve wanted one for a long time, but over here they’ve all been converted into mobile pizza ovens and coffee bars for c.£6k. DO NOT WANT. I want a dropside Ape 50 or maybe a panel van TM, and some parts and accessories, all for less than 2000€.
Ape is happening.

I mailed them, with questions about the condition, price and if the hook, lights etc are how you want them. If I don’t hear from them before the middle of next week, I’ll probably call them.
How can I reach you when I get a reply? An e-mail address perhaps?
